Voice clips on iPhone come with transcripts now, there's a new camera, uploads keep going in the background, and Trillian stays connected through more of what a phone goes through in a day.
Read your voice clips
Read your voice clipsSave a clip to Files
On iOS 26, the words appear under each voice clip as your phone works them out, so you can read a clip when playing it out loud isn't an option. As the clip plays, the word being spoken lights up. Tap a long transcript to open the whole thing and follow along, or tap a word to jump to that spot. You can also save a voice clip to Files from its long-press menu.
Hold the send button to send a message as urgent, and it works for GIFs, big emoji and voice clips too. The first time you tap +, a tip points you to the new long press.
That's not the only change around the message box. The + button now opens one menu with every action in it, and that's where Business accounts find their text snippets Business. Their organization's custom emoji Business arrive this month as well.
A new camera
A second lookPause while you record
After you take a photo, it waits on a review screen, and you can retake it if it's not quite right. Videos can be paused and resumed while you record. Once you're happy with the shot, add it to your message or send it straight away, and it gets the same send animation as your other photos.
On iPad, the camera fills the screen, and its controls stand in a column down the right side.
Uploads keep going in the background
Start sending a video, switch to another app, and it keeps uploading. Photos, voice clips, and files finish sending too, so there's no need to sit and watch the progress ring.
Picks up where it stoppedTap to retry
If your connection drops partway through, the upload tries again by itself and carries on from where it was. An upload that can't get started shows its retry button.
Resend in low quality
And when an upload is slow, you see how long it has left and can resend it in low quality.
Staying connected
After the server restarts, Trillian connects again on its own, with no need to sign out and back in. A connection problem doesn't freeze the app, a sign-in that gets an error back from the server stops showing "Connecting...", and waking the phone gets you connected right away. Calls stay up after Trillian has been in the background for a while, and incoming calls ring even if Trillian is closed after you sign in.
Also this month
Links to X posts try to show a preview card with the post's picture. Buzz is on the info screen you open from the Contacts tab or a chat's card. Large text sizes and other accessibility settings work better throughout the app, and when you open a chat from a notification, a spinner under the last message shows the new one is on its way.
Among the fixes, a reply typed on the lock screen leaves your other chats unread, alerts don't vanish on their own, and channel alerts show the channel's name and the sender's photo. Photos shared in from other apps stay put after they upload, sharing one photo to two chats works for both, and reactions Pro show who reacted by the name in your address book. When someone deletes a message, its notification goes away with it, and media cleanup on Business accounts Business leaves photos and videos that are still waiting to send alone.
